I SEE THE MOON
The project is about a self and collective fascination with the moon. My fascination with the moon starts with photography, installations, and poetry. Through the journey of trial and era, I created this book to transcend beyond the boundary of those disciplines—it becomes a project of its own. While sharing it with my fellow moon lovers, it is also an invitation to question what we feel beyond simply appreciation. This curated collection of moons represents beyond the figurative style of this subject. I also attempt to marry each shuttle and my ephemeral feeling with the visuals.
There’s a recomposed poem hidden close to the spine. Starting with “moon is beautiful, moon is poetic, but moon doesn’t talk.” I quoted poems about the moon from different countries in different languages, ending with “moon is a metaphor, moon talks.”
The edges have different phases of the moon, 12 pages corresponding to 12 eclipses.
Each page has been pre-scored to tear the pages out.
TThe inner spreads collect photography, installation, painting, furniture, and writing about the moon from people from different nationalities and social statuses, indicating that the moon is a universal subject, corresponding to the statement on the outside spreads.
The book is printed on dissolvable paper so that it has the transparency to mimic the mysteriousness of the moon. As a final move, when the spreads are dissolved in water, the book becomes parallel to the moon—that no one can possess it.
